NANT CONWY 18

BALA 25

A SUPERB fightback has given in-form Bala their most impressive win of the season.

The men from Maes Gwyniad made it four wins on the bounce in Division One (North) courtesy of their stunning 25-18 success at Nant Conwy.

The hosts were 16-12 ahead at the interval, but Bala shut out their opponents after this to turn things around in the second period.

The first half was a topsy-turvy affair, with neither side able to take control of proceedings.

Steffan Horan's ninth minute penalty handed Nant the lead, but Bala responded immediately.

A minute later, Owain Puw crossed for the first try of the afternoon, which was converted by Owain Aled.

Nant Conwy reclaimed the lead in the 20th minute when Steffan Horan grabbed a try, however Bala claimed the advantage once more when Dochan Roberts secured the next score three minutes later.

It was the hosts who were on top during the closing minutes of the first half.

Another penalty from Horan reduced Bala's advantage to a single point, before Jack Moriarty's try edged Nant Conwy back into the lead in the 36th minute.

Horan added the conversion to make it 18-12 to the hosts at half-time.

Bala defended superbly to keep their opponents out during the second period.

They reduced the deficit with an Owain Aled penalty in the 50th minute, while Nant Conwy could have stretched their lead to six points with 10 minutes left to play, however Steffan Horan's penalty attempt rebounded off the post.

From the re-start, Bala's Rhydian Jones hacked the ball into the Nant half and he was quick enough to regather and cross for a try under the posts.

Aled's conversion saw Bala four points ahead with just nine minutes left.

Bala kept their noses in front for the remainder of the game and they concluded the scoring when Aled kicked a further penalty in the last minute.
