BANGOR City could be set to lose two of their star names after “substantial” bids came in for Alex Darlington and Anthony Stephens.

The Citizens confirmed that although an offer has been made for the influential duo, nothing has been confirmed as yet and both Stephens and Darlington are both in the squad for their Huws Gray Alliance trip to Buckley Town on Saturday.

The club looking to acquire the star names is Mosta, who ply their trade in the BOV Premier League Malta and recently appointed former City director of football Stephen Vaughan Junior to their coaching staff.

This news comes swiftly on the back of Les Davies’ departure, with the physical striker opting to leave his hometown club in favour of another shot at the JD Welsh Premier League with basement dwellers Llandudno.

Darlington has been at the top of his game for the Citizens so far this term, turning in a series of fine displays on his way to 12 league strikes, which currently leads the goalscoring charts.

Although Stephens has had his trouble with injury at times this term, his influence is still considerable within the squad given the standard of his showings when he has been on the field.

Manager Gary Taylor-Fletcher has previously stated that he will look to make changes to the squad if he does not see a response to their disappointing 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Guilsfield last weekend.
