ST ASAPH CITY 1

LLANDYRNOG UNITED 1

IT was honours even in a Vale of Clwyd derby on Saturday.

In a key Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One contest, St Asaph City welcomed local rivals Llandyrnog United.

Just two points separated the teams in the standings ahead of kick-off, with Llandyrnog higher in the table.

It was the villagers who enjoyed the better start and Josh Griffiths' strike gave them the lead after only six minutes.

Llandyrnog went close to stretching their advantage via Will Ashley's fine free kick and while United felt the ball had crossed the line, play was waved on.

St Asaph, who improved in the second half, had an excellent chance to level things up when they were awarded a penalty with some 20 minutes left to play.

Duncan Midgley netted the spot kick to make sure the match ended up all-square.
