BARRY TOWN UNITED 0

BALA TOWN 1

(Match abandoned)

HOPES of a Lakesiders' success over the weekend were left in the dark.

There is something about Bala Town and floodlight failures this season.

For the third time over the course of the campaign, Colin Caton's charges were faced with a floodlight failure that brought an abrupt end to their televised Welsh Premier League clash at Barry Town United.

The Lakesiders started the contest brilliantly and they put the home side under a large amount of pressure.

Kieran Smith’s header went wide from five yards following a good ball in from the left after two minutes had elapsed..

Bala continued in positive fashion and they took the lead after 13 minutes.

Henry Jones’ 25-yard free kick was headed back towards goal by Chris Venables and Steve Tames netted from close range to make it 1-0.

Following the Bala celebrations, half of Jenner Park was plunged into darkness as the floodlight control room was ablaze, bringing the game to a stop.

After discussions lasting a quarter-of-an-hour, it was decided that the game should be abandoned.
