HAVING lost week 15 to the weather, competition continued in earnest in week 16 of Denbigh Golf Club's winter league season.

A massive debt of gratitude is due to the greens staff who, as always, have worked tirelessly to make the course playable for the members.

Whatever the conditions were, they certainly suited Kieran Shaw, who returned a phenomenal score of 48 points.

This score literally blew the rest of the field away and there was a six-point gap between first and second place.

The runner-up was Gareth Williams with an excellent score of 42 points, which in other weeks would have been enough to take first place.

However, Gareth had to settle for top spot in the bronze division. Likewise, an excellent round of 41 points from Huw Parry won him the Silver Division... and a new handicap of two!

Second in the silver division was the evergreen Llew Davies, while Hywel Jones was the runner-up in the bronze division.

Jac Roberts and Wyn Jones both had impressive rounds with final scores of 40 points.

The Winter League moves into the finishing strait and five members have scores in excess of 60 points.

Still out in front with 73 points is Marc Shaw, but the ominous shadow of Llew Davies is very much in the race just four points back.

Next are Darren Foulkes and George Williams, with scores of 67 and 64 points respectively, while Eifion Lloyd Jones is the final member of the leading group on 60 points.
