LLANDUDNO Albion booked their place in the Mawddach Challenge Cup fourth round with an outstanding 3-0 win at Bodedern Athletic.

The current holders and Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One leaders produced a sensational display against their in-form title rivals, and it was the influential Ricky Jones that gave Darren Jones’ men an early advantage when his superb strike found the net after just 11 minutes.

This provoked even more pressure from the visitors, which brought with it further reward on 20 minutes through the majestic talent of Jones, who produced a sublime finish to double their advantage after a hugely impressive piece of individual skill.

Albion managed to secure a three-goal cushion heading into the break when Luke Smith prodded home from close range after being given the simplest of tasks by forward Peter Jones, who beat a series of defenders before delivering a pinpoint cross.

The second period was a more close-run affair, but the away side managed to hold firm against a strong challenge from Ricky Williams’ side to secure their spot in the next round.

Also through to the next stage of the competition are Llanrwst United, who threw their current form out of the window to achieve a 3-1 home success over Llannefydd.

Despite the eventual result it was the visitors who drew first blood when Sam Jones turned in a chance with just three on the clock, but a quick-fire brace from Aaron Jones on 35 and 44 got the Rwsters’ in front at the break.

The same player was on hand to double their advantage after the break and secure his hat-trick on the hour mark to round off the scoring.
