ST ASAPH CITY 3

LLANDUDNO JUNCTION 1

EARLY birds St Asaph City successfully maintained their fine run of form over the weekend.

It's now five matches unbeaten for the Saints, who added to Llandudno Junction's Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One woes by claiming a 3-1 win.

The three points were effectively in the bag inside the opening 20 minutes.

The hosts wasted no time in making an impact on proceedings and they went ahead after just 17 seconds when a quick attack saw James Williams find the net.

Not content to rest on their laurels, St Asaph doubled their advantage after a quarter-of-an-hour mark when John Terry headed home a pinpoint delivery from Corey Brewerton.

This was swiftly followed by a third goal on 19 minutes.

Striker Duncan Midgley extended his exceptional recent run of goalscoring form when he turned in a chance after a neat passage of play.

Down, but not quite out, Llandudno Junction responded well to the setbacks and they reduced the deficit through Richard Hughes' 25th minute strike.

That was it for the scoring and St Asaph boss Daniel Brewerton said Brewerton said: “The result was another important three points for us, we got off to a flyer and this seemed to stun Junction.

“Junction deserve a lot of credit as (in the) second half they were a lot more organised and got a lot of men behind the ball.

"We had a lot good possession, but didn’t create too many clear-cut chances, we were able to deal with their counter attacks and finished the game with a deserved three points.

“The lads are playing well at the minute and the squad is looking really strong with a few players returning from injuries, hopefully we can take this form into next weekend at home against Llanrwst.”
