LLANRWST UNITED 3

LLANNEFYDD 1

THE run in this season's Mawddach Challenge Cup has come to an end for Llannefydd.

A dramatic run, which was marked by a derby win at Llandyrnog United and a penalty shootout success at Pentraeth, had seen the villagers make their way through to the quarter-finals.

Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division Two outfit Llannefydd were faced with a tricky clash at Division One Llanrwst United in the last-eight and they made a blistering start.

Just two minutes had elapsed when new acquisition Sam Jones let fly with a volley from all of 40 yards, which went into the top corner of the net.

That was to be the high point for the visiting Llan, though, and Aaron Jones levelled things up 10 minutes shy of the interval.

The next goal was likely to prove crucial to the outcome and it went in United's favour a minute prior to the interval, with Jones on target again.

The same player sealed the deal when he completed his hat-trick after an hour.
