AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON YOUTH 1

CAERWYS 1

THERE were few chances in a tight Clwyd League (East) game that was dominated by both defences.

Caerwys suffered a blow early into the game with the withdrawl of winger Jack Wakeman and makeshift striker John Newton through muscle strains.

Visiting boss Shaun Davies introduced Ben Larson and Dylan Jones as replacements.

Airbus made the most of home advantage on their big pitch and they were happy to use the width, but they never really tested Seb Czubaj in goal.

A somewhat harsh decision resulted in Airbus taking the lead from the spot after half-an-hour when both players did their fair share of holding.

Harvey Ellis made no mistake with the penalty.

Some positional changes by Caerwys completely changed the game after the break, with Matty Palin driving forward from midfield.

Inspired at the back by David Evans at right back, the veteran gave nothing away and he was the key to some positive attacking moves, as was Shaun Thomson on the left flank.

With 11 minutes left, a Luke Williams free kick was headed home by Steve Hughes for a deserved equaliser.

Both sides had chances late on, with Larson missing the target for Caerwys and Czubaj saving well at the other end.
