LLANFERRES players recently made their mark in the NEWBA junior tournament.

Hannah Harrison joined forced with Mold's Liam Hird to win the U-17 mixed doubles.

The duo defeated James Maddocks (Mold) and Aarthy Aravand 14,15, 15-13, 15-14 in a tense thriller.

Hannah Harrison made it through to the final of the U-17 firls' singles, where she lost out 15-8, 15-6 to Connah's Quay's Darci-Lee Martin.

In the semi-finals of the U-16 boys' singles, Hird saw off the challenge of Llanferres player Tomos Tustain 15-8, 15-1.

Tustain and Hird then united to win the boys' doubles final 12-15, 15-3, 15-13 versus James Maddocks (Mold) and William Winfield (Connah's Quay).

Turning to the North East Wales Badminton League and having to concede three events due to the absence of two men, Llangollen crashed to an 8-0 Division One defeat at the hands of third placed Rossett A. Undefeated Nicola Smith was player of the match for Rossett and along with partner Christian Taylor, at first mixed, they proved too strong for Nik Evans ad Jane Jones, going on to win 21-15, 21-13.
