DENBIGH TOWN U-15s 2

PENTRE DRAGONS 1

A SECOND successive match-winning strike from Jake Roberts gave Denbigh Town Rhinos U-15s a narrow 2-1 victory over a stubborn Pentre Dragons.

The first half saw Denbigh struggle to find a way past the resilient Dragons and Jake Jones had to be on hand at the other end to deny the away team on the counter on more than one occasion.

It took a fortuitous own goal to give the home side the lead.

A Pentre defender headed into his own net with his goalkeeper in no man’s land.

One nearly became two within a minute as Finn McCoole teed up Roberts, who lifted his shot against the bar.

Guto Owen and Gethin Rogers went close before the away team, threatening all game from set pieces, found an equaliser with a powerfully header.

Denbigh have been steadily growing in stature all season and they showed great character to find a late winner for the second time in as many matches.

Jake Roberts again benefited from a McCoole pass to blast in the winner and give Denbigh maximum points.
