LLANRHAEADR 2

BRILLIANT Llanrhaeadr have achieved something that no other Summer League team has done for close to two years.

Cefn's lengthy unbeaten Summer League run came to a halt on Thursday night as Llanrhaeadr regained top spot in the rankings.

Before this clash, Cefn's last league loss came way back in June 2017, when a Josh Davies strike handed Llandyrnog a 1-0 margin of victory.

Initially, Alun "Junior" Owen's hosts appeared to be on course to extend their perfect start to the campaign.

Nine minutes had elapsed when Jake Walker handed Cefn the lead with his eighth goal of the season.

However, the second half belonged to Llanrhaeadr and skipper Rhys Hughes levelled things up after 62 minutes.

It appeared as if both sides would pick up a point, but Llan had other ideas and Matty Evans bagged a dramatic winner with three minutes remaining.

Ynyr Jones, Rhys Hughes and Ellis Vaughan were all pivotal figures for Llan, who now have a one-point advantage at the top.
