This season is turning out to be a cracker...especially if of course like me you are a Saints fan!

Also, it was fantastic to see a record crowd get along to the iconic Nou Camp Stadium as it held its first ever Super League game.

More than 31,000 fans saw the Catalan Dragons turn over an out-of- sorts Wigan by 33-16.

Whatever people’s thoughts on this fixture you can’t deny it’s been a great success. We all want to grow and further promote our sport and having the social media-backing of probably the biggest football club in the world can only aid this.

This weekend we again get a chance to showcase our great game as the Magic Weekend heads just down the road to Anfield.

Having been held previously at Cardiff, Manchester and Newcastle, this year it’s only a 12 mile journey for Saints fans as we aim to push further ahead at the top of the Betfred Super League table.

It’s the Castleford Tigers who have the task of stopping the mighty Saints in the top-of-the-bill fixture on Sunday.

The 2017 league leaders will come into the game confident after their derby win over the lowly Leeds Rhinos last week.

However, Saints themselves will be full of it after there last gasp 32-30 win over a good Salford side. It was far from the quality performance we are used to seeing from the team, however what they did show was the resilience and self-belief synonyms with Saints RFC!

A 79th min try by young forward James Bentley left us riding high with a six point lead at the summit.

Following a blistering start with three tries in twelve minutes it looked like it could all be over by half time.

However all credit to the Red Devils who came straight back with 30 unanswered points and looked favourites to take the points themselves, but as I said this is St Helens.....!

Two of the major influencers in turning round the performance were hat-trick hero Lachlan Coote, and for me currently the best prop in Super League, Alex Walmsley.

The big man was immense…continuously ripping the ball into the heart of the Salford defence - and racking up 155 metres along the way..

The Castleford fans will have their own opinion on who’s the best prop in the Betfred Super League. Probably their best player so far this season has been Liam Watts, and fellow front-rower Walmsley has already publicly acknowledged Saints must keep him quiet if they are to dominate this game. Personally, I think our defence will get in his face and eliminate his offload game.

In the other games- Saturday, I’m going for Catalan, Hull and Warrington wins over Wakefield, Huddersfield and Wigan respectively. While I expect Salford to bounce back over Hull KR and Leeds to put aside their woes and beat the Broncos on the Sunday.

So to the finale – and for sure the Saints will go marching on! I’m going for a 12 point win over the Tigers which is (evens) with the league’s title sponsors Betfred.
