DOLGELLAU 2NDS 86-4

RUTHIN 2NDS 84

A FOUR-MIDABLE showing from Mike Evans made sure that Ruthin 2nds picked up two points from their weekend efforts.

Evans secured four wickets in an impressive bowling display as Ruthin lost out by six wickets during their Division Four visit on Saturday to promotion chasers Dolgellau 2nds.

The visitors elected to bat first after winning the toss, but the loss of both openers cheaply meant there was a tricky start to the innings.

Recovery was a feature thanks to the efforts of Jamie Hughes (24), Alun Jones (24) and Robert Williams (14).

However, no other batsman managed to make it to double figures as the visitors were dismissed for 84 in the 24th over.

Doing the damage with the ball for Dolgellau were Dave Jenkins (4-21), Iwan Parry (4-34) and Richard Rees (2-26).

The home side's reply was not without its concerns, thanks to the efforts of Mike Evans (4-38).

In the end, Dolgellau reached a winning 86-4 in the 19th over.

Ruthin walked away with two points, while Dolgellau took 13 points.
