BALA 46

BRO FFESTINIOG 17

THE brilliant start has continued from the perspective of Bala.

Joint top of Division One (North) alongside Ruthin are the men from Maes Gwyniad, who bagged their second consecutive bonus point victory.

On this occasion, it was Gwynedd rivals Bro Ffestiniog who were put to the sword by a 46-17 margin.

Bala are in a much healthier position compared to 12 months ago.

Club chairman Tony Parry admitted: "Two wins in a row instead of six losses is a bit better!

"But the harder games are to come."

Bala's fine start has been achieved without the influential Rhydian Jones, who has moved to Division One (North) rivals Nant Conwy.

And the squad will be weakened during the next couple of months, with a handful of players travelling to Japan to cheer Wales on at the Rugby World Cup.

Parry added: "We have been playing well.

"They (Bro) had a hammering the week before and they had a few of the older heads back.

"Their 17 points were from our mistakes, but we scored 46, so we can't complain."

While Bala weren't at their best for the first 20 minutes, they were brilliant for the remainder of the half and they had a bonus point in the bag by half-time.

It was all about the forwards in the first half, with captain Moi Dafydd (2), Sion Lynch and Mathew Befan all crossing the Bro whitewash.

A further three tries followed in the second period, claimed by Ilan Jones (2) and Miallt Roberts.

Owain Aled and Llion Jones shared the conversions as Bala eased to win number two of the season.
