DINBYCH 2NDS 3

RUTHIN 2NDS 45

THERE was double derby delight for the Blues to celebrate.

As well as Ruthin defeating Dinbych in Division One (North) action, there was success for the Cae Ddol lads in a Division Three (North) encounter between Dinbych 2nds and Ruthin 2nds.

Playing uphill in the first half, Ruthin played some attractive rugby and the forwards utilised their assets to score a pushover try via Danny Millar to break the deadlock.

The incline soon took its toll and Dinbych used their experience to push Ruthin back into their own half.

The away side conceded penalties galore and the final blow was a yellow card for a Ruthin winger for a high tackle, which meant there were 14 men running up the hill instead of 15.

However, the team survived to half-time without serious damage.

At the break, Ruthin coach Pedr Jones delivered an inspirational and motivational speech which was generally taken on board by the team. After the interval, Ruthin managed to score a number of tries, with Tudur Parry, Dan Owen, Eti Fidow, Jamie 'Chips' Jones and Ifan Clwyd helping themselves to the spoils.

The pick of the tries belonged to Huw Parry who finished off a fantastic team effort to score under the posts.

Ruthin's man of the match was Jamie 'Chips' Jones for an almost perfect kicking display out of hand and he only missed one of his conversion attempts.

Dinbych's only reply was a penalty by James Tilley, but there were promising displays in a young team from forwards Tom Jones, Ashley Liversage, Harry Evans and Callum Taylor.

Meanwhile, full back Tom Wynne and centre Toby MacAlpine, making his debut, were the pick of the backs.
