DENBIGH TOWN JFC U-16s 4

PRESTATYN CELTIC U-16s 0

A FOUR-MIDABLE showing made sure Denbigh Town Rhinos U-16s remained top of the Rhyl and District Junior Football League standings.

Denbigh maintained their impressive 100 per cent winning run with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Prestatyn Celtic U-16s.

Fine midfield battling from man of the match Lewis Devine set up Owen Williams, whose pinpoint cross was headed home by Jake Roberts for a 25th minute opener.

James Thomas quickly doubled the lead by latching on to a Finn McCoole flick-on to drill home past the Celtic keeper.

Denbigh continued to press and they were unlucky not to go further ahead at the interval as Thomas saw a shot crash off the post, with Iwan Moores unable to convert the rebound, while a thumping header from McCoole crashed against the crossbar and Guto Owen saw a goal disallowed for offside.

A low-key second-half was brightened by Thomas picking out Roberts, who finished as cool as you like past the despairing away stopper for his second goal and his fifth in four games.

Denbigh's fourth arrived as captain Bradley Roberts floated a free kick into Tomos Jones, who thumped home on the hour.

Jones later saw one cleared off the line and Thomas went close on two occasions as Denbigh saw out a comfortable home win with a clean sheet to boot.
