LLANSANNAN 4

A SPOT in the second round of the NWCFA Junion Cup is Llansannan's reward following a victorious weekend.

Playing host to Llan were Anglesey League outfit Cefni, with the visitors managing to make it through by a 4-2 margin.

It was the home side who claimed the lead in the 17th minute, but three goals in the space of eight minutes shortly before the break saw Llansannan claim control of the tie.

Two of these were netted by Geraint Jones, while Rhys Jones was also on target.

Another Cefni goal in the 75th minute set up a grandstand finish, but Llansannan's success was sealed by Joe Maguire's injury time strike.

Gethin Vaughan was Llansannan's man of the match.

Also heading through are Bro Cernyw, who saw off the challenge of Waunfawr 4-2.

However, Y Glannau are out of the competition following their 3-2 home loss at the hands of Llandudno Amateurs Reserves.

Turning to the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League and it turned out to be a fine weekend for Cerrigydrudion.

They grabbed their third win of the season courtesy of a comfortable 3-0 home triumph over Rhos United.

First half goals from Tirion Griffiths (penalty), Nidian Jones and Dion Lloyd sealed the deal for Cerrig.

Caerwys' unbeaten start to the Clwyd League (East) season came to an end with their 3-1 home loss at the hands of leaders Brymbo Victoria.

Initially, things appeared to be going well for Caerwys, with Elgan Hughes giving them the lead in the 13th minute.

Back came Victoria, though, as goals from Joe Humphreys, George Phoenix and Adam Lloyd secured their latest success.
