BALA TOWN 1

BARRY TOWN UNITED 1

THE unbeaten run continues for Bala Town after they picked up a point from their home clash with JD Cymru leaders Barry Town United.

The game started well, with neither team able to take a full hold in the opening stages.

Louis Robles’ header was saved by Radcliffe after eight minutes, with the next effort coming from Chris Venables when he capitalised on a mistake by Barry at the back.

He squared for Robles seven yards out, but the ball was hacked away.

Bala took the lead after 18 minutes.

A corner taken quickly and short by Nathan Burke picked out an unmarked Henry Jones and from 10 yards out, slotted a first time effort into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Barry almost hit back from the restart as Kayne McLaggon’s half-volley from the edge of the box was saved by Ashley Morris.

Town were seeing plenty of the ball and they were creating chances, with Henry Jones flicking a header wide of the upright and he then fired past the post after some brilliant work by Andy Burns on the wing.

Down the other end, Green’s superb strike was brilliantly pushed away by Morris to deny the visitors.

As the board for extra time went up, the score was levelled.

A quick break from the visitors saw play switched from right to left and the ball was delivered into the box for Reffell to slot home to make it 1-1 at the break.

The second half was a bit more feisty as the pressure mounted and there were further chances for both sides.

Barry could have taken the lead early in the second period when they were awarded a free kick, which Spence rocketed against the post.

Town were a danger on the counter, with Venables and Robles creating problems for the Barry backline.

Touray fired narrowly wide of the post from the edge of the box for Barry, prior to Radcliffe gathering Jones' effort down the other end.

Confidence was growing for the Lakesiders, who could have gone ahead when a corner was cleared into Robles’ path.

His attempt was going towards goal until a deflection at the last moment took it wide.

On the left, Sean Smith provided an excellent run forward and found Jones, who struck the ball first time, but it lacked power and the effort was saved.

Into the final five minutes and Bala had two golden opportunities to get all three points.

Mendes firstly pounced on a lapse of concerntration at the back to force the ball forward to Venables, but it was pushed around the post.

The second chance came again from the influential Mendes, who put the ball over the crossbar from six yards out.
