BALA TOWN 4

NEWTOWN 0

IT'S now 150 not out for the in-form Lakesiders.

Bala Town secured a thumping 4-0 win at home to Newtown in their latest match, making it 150 wins in top flight football.

The hosts started incredibly brightly and they played with intent from the outset.

After two minutes of play, Henry Jones pulled a low strike wide and Town claimed the lead 10 minutes later.

They were awarded a free kick when Louis Robles was toppled on the edge of the box and Henry Jones whipped the set piece into the left hand side of the net to give the Lakesiders the lead.

Newtown crept back into the game after this as they applied pressure. Harry was deemed offside from Williams’ through ball, before a free kick led to Niall Flint firing wide in an excellent opportunity for the visitors.

At the other end, Chris Venables headed over the bar from Andy Burns' cross, before Town added another goal to their tally.

A break down the right by Venables saw him power through Mills-Evans and pick out an unmarked Robles, who connected brilliantly with the ball and lobbed the keeper from around six yards out to make it 2-0.

Bala had an opportunity to make it three just before the interval as Henry Jones broke free, but he struck his effort narrowly wide of the far post.

Things got back underway in the driving rain and it's fair to say that it was a fiery half!

Newtown should have grabbed a goal back a minute after the break when a corner arrived to Williams, but Josh Tibbetts spectacularly tipped the goalbound strike over the crossbar.

Kenton was the next player to be denied by Tibbetts when his close range chance was pushed around the post.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men on 52 minutes when George Harry was sent off for an altercation with goalkeeper Tibbetts.

With a man to their advantage, Bala took back a hold of the match and it took them only five minutes to make this count.

Jones' cross flashed across the face of goal to Robles at the far post and he blasted in for his second goal of the evening.

As Bala continued to press, a header from Lassana Mendes was placed inches wide of the post from a Jones free kick, before Town were down to 10 men themselves.

Mendes was shown a second yellow card after an hour.

Being a man down didn’t faze the Lakesiders, who continued to put the visitors under pressure.

Anthony Stephens saw a header pushed over the bar, before Tibbetts denied McAllister’s powerful strike down the other end.

With three minutes left to play, Bala rounded off their evening with a fourth goal.

Steve Leslie’s teasing ball from the left hit the base of the post and it fell into the path of Robles, who poked home from three yards out to complete his hat-trick.
