LLANDYRNOG UNITED 5

PRESTATYN SPORTS 2

WHAT a way to gain a first win of the season!

With less than 25 minutes remaining, Prestatyn Sports looked to be on course for the three Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One points when they held a 2-0 lead at Llandyrnog United.

However, the hosts came roaring back and an amazing spell yielded five goals in the space of just 23 minutes as Jimmy McNally's side gained their first league triumph of the campaign.

There was no sign of the drama to come as a solitary effort separated the teams at the interval.

Kris Owen's 17th minute strike had the visitors in the box seat.

Things got even better for Prestatyn Sports when Robbie Dunn doubled his side's advantage four minutes after the restart.

Llandyrnog were desperate for a route back into the contest and the introduction of striker Jamie Jones off the bench lifted the home side's spirits.

United were right back in the contest when youngster Josh Jones popped up to half the deficit in the 66th minute.

This proved to be the catalyst for an epic fightback and United were amazingly in the lead within 10 minutes.

It was two-apiece when Ross Gilbert found the back of the net on 72 minutes and four minutes later, centre back Russ Moorcroft gave Llandyrnog the lead.

With Prestatyn Sports pressing for an equaliser, Llandyrnog made sure of the three points with two late goals.

It was game over when Josh Jones scored his second goal of the contest on 88 minutes and this was followed 60 seconds later by another effort from Ross Gilbert.
