LLANNEFYDD 2
NEFYN UNITED 3
(after extra time)
FOR the second weekend running, Llannefydd departed a national competition.
Seven days after departing the JD Welsh Cup, Llan played host to Gwynedd League Nefyn United in the third round of the FAW Trophy.
Although Llannefydd twice held the lead, it was Nefyn who ultimately progressed courtesy of a 3-2 extra time triumph.
Just a solitary goal separated the teams at the interval and Brad Jones' strike nine minutes before the break handed the hosts the initiative.
However, United made a bright start to the second half and Carl Jones levelled things up in the 48th minute.
Back came Llannefydd, though, and Ciran Jones regained the lead in the 65th minute.
Nefyn weren't finished just yet and Steve Jones' effort took the tie into extra time.
Just one further goal arrived in the additional half-an-hour and Llyr Williams popped up to secure United's passage into the fourth round.
