LLANELWY Athletic and Llansannan are both on the march in a knockout competition - but there was weekend disappointment for Bro Cernyw.

Saturday witnessed second round action in this season's Normac Precision Engineering JT (Charlie) Jones President's Cup.

The stars of the round were Llanelwy Athletic, who thrashed visitors Machno United 12-1.

There was no sign of Athletic's goal-den day as Harry Kirkham gave Machno the lead after a quarter-of-an-hour.

That's as good as it got for the visitors, though, as Llanelwy turned things around to lead 4-1 at the interval.

Ste Kirk hit a first half hat-trick, while Kevin Rickard was also on target.

Athletic remained on top in the second period, scoring a further eight goals without reply.

Rob Brown helped himself to four goals, while a further couple of efforts from Kirk took his tally to five.

Danny Gizzin added a brace for the victors.

Also heading through as Llansannan, on the back of their 3-1 home success versus Y Glannau.

On target for Llan were Gethin Vaughan (2) and Geraint Jones, with Kyle Hulme scoring for Y Glannau.

Osian Roberts gave Bro Cernyw a 13th minute lead at Llysfaen, but late efforts from James Fallan and Ashley Holden handed the hosts a 2-1 verdict.

Llanuwchllyn departed the FAW Trophy at the third round stage following a 5-1 home loss at the hands of Llanrug United.

Oli Crimp's strike had the hosts in the tie at 2-1 down after an hour, before Llanrug added a further three goals to seal the deal.

Ruthin Town Reserves claimed their most notable win of the season in the Reserves' Division of the Wrexham Area League.

A goal from David Wilkins handed Ruthin a 1-0 win over title chasing Queens Park Reserves.

Turning to the Reserves / Colts Division and Bala Town Reserves were edged out 4-3 in a home thriller versus Cefn Mawr Rangers Reserves.

Jack Jarvis (2) and Cai Aykroyd netted for the Lakesiders.

Matthew Jones was on the scoresheet for Llangollen Town Reserves in their 7-1 loss at Saltney Town Reserves.
