A CUP derby clash went the way of Llansannan over the weekend.

In the second round of the NWCFA Junior Cup, Llan had home advantage versus fellow Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division outfit Bro Cernyw.

It turned out to be a successful day for striker Geraint Jones, who handed Llansannan the lead after 20 minutes and he doubled the advantage six minutes before the interval.

Jones then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 70th minute to seal the deal.

Turing to the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League, and Cerrigydrudion were less than 10 minutes away from ending high-flying Abergele's unbeaten record this season.

Cerrig were 3-2 ahead with just five minutes remaining, however Abergele bagged a late levelled to stretch their undefeated run in the league to 10 games.

Goals from Tirion Griffiths (2) and Rich Lloyd had Cerrig ahead on three occasions, but efforts from Jack Lloyd, Sam Ashton and Jack Holt pegged them back.

A blistering start more than played its part to make sure it was a successful Saturday for Y Glannau.

Kyle Hulme, Joey Fontana, Fran Roberts and Owain Jones all found the target inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour as Y Glannau defeated Premier Division visitors Rhos United 4-2.

Elsewhere, Dan Price's 82nd minute strike handed Llanelwy Athletic a 1-1 draw at Meliden.

Turning to Division One and Henllan gave title favourites NFA a tough contest before falling to a 3-1 loss.

Ed Toms netted for the home side.
