The third fixture of the Borders Road-Running League at a slippery Birkenhead Park proved a bit of a let-down for the men and women of Prestatyn Running Club.

Both fielded understrength teams due to illness, injury and unavailability.

In a quality field, Steve Forsyth was the club’s first finisher in 12th place overall.

Sian Beck had a great run to finish 146th and it was good to see teenager Eve Scott making her league debut and giving the team a big boost.

Placings: 12, Steve Forsyth; 38, Chris Yorke; 76, Alex Ryder; 122, John Simpson; 147, Sian Beck; 155, James Rogers; 159, Steve Weedman; 192, Steve Brown; 203, Tony Benton; 211, Eve Scott; 212, Will Williams; 219, Frances Garnett; 228, Alan Jones; 233, Gary Johnson; 264, Ben Harrison; 293, Cara Jones; 318, Helen Alefounder; 325, Jan Garnett; 355, Liz Martin.

The four laps of Birkenhead Park can get a little boring, but club members Andy Clark and Kat Prestwich faced the mental and physical ordeal of 10 laps of the Oulton Park race circuit on Sunday.

They competed in the marathon, the longest event in the day’s festival of running.

Andy finished in 4-46.05, with Kat just one second behind.
