IT'S been a hugely successful spell of action for a talented sportswoman.

Affectionately known as ‘Brammers’ by her coach and fellow Wales golf squad players, Lea-Anne Bramwell has had some excellent success lately, bringing Welsh ladies golf to the forefront of sport.

Lea-Anne, from Abergele, is part of Welsh Golf's high performance squad, as well as being a member of both Abergele and Wrexham golf clubs.

Her ultimate aspiration is to turn professional in the next couple of years. She has had a great season, with one highlight being when she was given an invitation to play in the ISPS Handa World Invitational in Galgorm Castle Golf Club, Northern Ireland.

She competed against some of the best professionals from the Ladies' European Tour, the American Symetra Tour and the UK Access Tour.

Lea-Anne had a fantastic tournament, earning a 20th placed finish and she was the second placed amateur.

This was her first ever professional tournament and she finished her season with a +1 handicap.

The Conwy Sports Awards were held at Venue Cymru recently.

Lea-Anne was the winner of the junior girl sports person of the year accolade for 2018 and 12 months on, she was entered into the senior ladies sports person of the year category.

Unfortunately, she was not there for the ceremony, but she was able to watch it with her family via live streaming on YouTube whilst being away in southern Spain.

Lea-Anne was up against some quality nominees, but she was lucky enough to be crowned the Conwy senior ladies' sports person of the year.

She was out in Spain because she was competing in the junior European Open over-18s finals at the Alcaidesa Golf Resort in La Linear.

Lea-Anne was the first ever over 18 lady to make it to the final and she had to compete against the men.

She successfully qualified for the final at Telford Golf Club with a two-under-par score.

The final was spread over five rounds of tournament golf, with everyone playing off scratch.

Two rounds were played on each of the two different course on site and the best round from each course combined to give a score of six-under-par going into the final round, four shots ahead of the nearest man.

Lea-Anne played well to score level par, finishing the tournament at -6 and winning by a massive nine shots.

She was filmed being presented her trophy and being interviewed by Sky golf presenter Nick Dougherty.

This will be televised on Sky Sports this month.

She has won a golf day with Nick and the other winners, plus a night at the iconic Wentworth Golf and Country Club, as well as being kitted out with Tommy Hillfiger golf clothing.

This is a fantastic tournament and is a must for any young golfer with aspirations to turn professional.

That's because it is set up exactly like a full professional tournament and gives competitors a massive amount of experience.

Lea-Anne is also an ambassador for the championship, and details can be found at www.golforganiser.com
