LLANDYRNOG UNITED 0

WHAT a terrific point Llandyrnog United managed to gain on their travels over the weekend.

Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One hosts Llanrug United will have been strong favourites to secure their fourth home win of the campaign.

However, battling Llandyrnog secured a goalless draw to achieve their first point away from home this season.

It was a tough encounter for both teams, with the match being played in horrendous conditions.

Llandyrnog boss Jimmy McNally said: "I felt we marshalled the game well from midfield.

"Craig Jones and Nathan Rose were formidable in central midfield and Chris Evans gave a solid account of himself in unfamiliar territory for him on the left flank.

"Ross Gilbert worked tirelessly, but he was up against a brick wall in Llanrug centre half and captain Llion Jones - he was exceptional.

"It was a great point on the road."

For Llandyrnog, Jack Crompton had an effort cleared off the line in the second half.

Veteran Derry Morris also went close with a long-range free kick that was spilled by the keeper, who then recovered brilliantly.

At the other end of the pitch, Barney Murray was vocal and commanding in the Llandyrnog goal and he made a great save in the second half when a chance dropped for Llanrug on the edge of the box.
