HEARTS FIRE 1
DENBIGH TOWN U-16s 1
A BELOW-PAR Denbigh Town Rhinos U-16s were given a stern test in Rhyl, where Iwan Moores late strike salvaged a 1-1 draw with Hearts Fire.
In truth, it could have been a lot worse for the travelling Rhinos.
Goalkeeper Jake Jones was in top form to deny Rhyl adding to an unfortunate first-half own goal from the otherwise solid Gruff Mars-Jones.
Time and time again, Jones was on hand to deny the hosts, a superb double-stop being the pick against Fire, who also had a goal ruled out for offside.
Jake Roberts and Tomos Jones both went close for Denbigh, but the visitors had to wait deep into a much improved second half for Iwan Moores to rifle home into the top corner from distance to restore parity.
A late rally nearly produced a winner for Denbigh, but the points were shared.
