CORWEN 1

LLANRHAEADR 2

CORWEN are sure to finish the year in the bottom-two of JD Cymru North on the back of a narrow weekend loss.

It was in-form Llanrhaeadr who claimed the spoils by a slender 2-1 margin in a match that was played at Bala's Maes Tegid ground.

This was Llanrhaeadr's fourth win on the bounce, while a second half fightback wasn't enough to stop Corwen from slipping to their 12th league loss of the campaign.

The visitors were given a great opportunity to open the scoring when they were awarded a second minute penalty.

The spot kick was taken by Matthew Williams, but he sent the ball over the crossbar.

At the other end, a corner was played into the box and Harry Pooler sent the ball over the bar.

A 19th minute corner for the away side was cleared to Tomos Evans, who sent a powerful angled shot at goal, which keeper Dylan Jones brilliantly tipped against the bar.

From the resulting corner Matthew Williams, saw his close range shot being saved by Dylan Jones.

The deadlock was broken in the 23rd minute after a quick attack from Llanrhaeadr.

Dylan Jones got something on Joe Vaughan's shot, but he couldn’t prevent the ball form going in.

Llanrhaeadr doubled their advantage when Iain Edmunds played a free kick into the Corwen box and Khyam Wyton found some space to brilliantly head the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Corwen looked for a way back into the game in the closing stages of the first half, with Nathan Davies going for goal from 25 yards and while his shot had keeper James Hayns beaten, it crashed against the bar.

Two minutes later and Corwen went close again.

Joe Williams' free kick hit the crossbar with the keeper stranded.

Corwen got out of the traps early in the second half and Tom Williams' shot was blocked by James Hayns.

The deficit was halved in the 71st minute.

Tom Mann crossed and Joe Williams got the ball beyond Hayns.

Tom Williams went in search of the leveller as he ran with the ball, but his shot was met with a great save out of the Llanrhaeadr number one.

A minute later and Harry Pooler was able to get his head to a corner, but he sent it just wide of the target.
