BRO FFESTINIOG 8
BALA 15
A LATE piece of magic from Argentinian player Luis Prieto made sure Bala ended their year in WRU League Division One (North) on a high.
The hard-fought contest at Bro Ffestiniog appeared like it was heading for a draw, with the teams tied at 8-8 with just five minutes left to play.
However, Prieto sliced through the home defence to score a converted try to seal Bala's success.
Bala chairman Tony Parry said: "It was hard fought.
"They came out of the traps quite quickly playing down the slope.
"But we held out quite well."
Dave Yates grabbed Bala's first try of the afternoon, while Prieto slotted over a penalty.
Then, with five minutes to go, Prieto made his way through the Bro Ffestiniog defence to score under the posts and he duly kicked the conversion to turn this into a seven-pointer.
"Fair play to Bro, they gave a good account of themselves and made it difficult for us."
