MOCHDRE SPORTS 1

LLANNEFYDD 5

A FIVE-STAR showing has opened 2020 in stunning fashion for Llannefydd.

The villagers were on their travels over the weekend as they paid a visit to Mochdre Sports for their latest Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division Two encounter.

Looking for a three-point haul to maintain their push for the title, Llannefydd claimed the lead after 22 minutes thanks to Ynyr Clwyd's strike.

Back came lowly Mochdre Sports, though, and Gareth Jones' goal levelled things up after half-an-hour.

It looked like the interval would arrive with the sides level, but Brad Jones nudged Llan back in front right on the stroke of half-time.

The second half belonged to Llannefydd and Brad Jones scored his second goal five minutes after the restart to stretch his side's advantage.

It was game over when Tudur Jones bagged goal number four in the 80th minute, while the final word went to Luke Appleby in the last minute.
