LLANELWY ATHLETIC 1

BRO CERNYW 3

A TRIO of first half goals ensured it was a terrific start to the year for Bro Cernyw.

The villagers bagged the three points on offer during their weekend trip to Llanelwy Athletic in the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League.

Owain Hughes (2) and Bryn Griffiths had Bro Cernyw out of sight by the time the half-time whistle was sounded.

Steve Kirk pulled a goal back for Athletic 10 minutes into the second half.

RHUDDLAN TOWN 3

LLANSANNAN 2

HOW important will this result turn out to be in May?

There was a clash of two Premier Division title chasers as leaders Rhuddlan Town hosted rivals Llansannan.

A topsy turvy clash appeared to be heading for a draw, but there was to be a sting in the tail as Rhuddlan edged to their eighth win of the season by the narrowest of margins.

A blistering beginning from Town saw them race into a 2-0 lead inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour.

Jay Whitehouse broke the deadlock in the eighth minute and the same player was on target to double his side's advantage six minutes later.

Llansannan came out in determined fashion at the start of the second period and Rhys Hughes pulled a goal back four minutes after the restart.

It was game on once again when Joe Maguire made it two-apiece with 20 minutes left to play.

There was time for one further goal and it went in Rhuddlan's favour when Matty Rees found the target with five minutes left.

LLANFAIRFECHAN TOWN 2

CERRIGYDRUDION 2

CERRIGYDRUDION managed to make their point to open the new year.

It finished up two-apiece as Cerrig made a Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division trip to title hopefuls Llanfairfechan Town on Saturday.

This was a tremendous result for Cerrigydrudion, who were boosted by a pair of goals from Jac Edwards.

Iwan Jones and Ryan Lewis slotted in the Llanfairfechan goals.

HENLLAN 1

LLANFAIRFECHAN TOWN RESERVES 5

IT wasn't the best of starts to the year from the perspective of Henllan.

The Top Park side were beaten 5-1 in their home Division One clash versus Llanfairfechan Town Reserves.

The star of the show for the visitors was undoubtedly Elliot Croston, who bagged four of his side's goals.

Shaun Edwards was on target for Henllan.
