THE battle of the Uniteds didn't go in favour of Llandyrnog over the weekend.

Instead, it was Llanrug who claimed the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One spoils with a 5-0 success at Cae Nant.

Three goals in the final 10 minutes gave the scoreline a lop-sided look and Llandyrnog were well in it for a large chunk of the encounter.

It remained goalless for the majority of the first half and the deadlock was broken three minutes shy of the interval when Iwan Edwards found the target.

Kevin Lloyd doubled the visitors' advantage six minutes after the restart, before Llandyrnog had an excellent chance to drag themselves back into the contest, but Jamie Jones put his penalty wide of the goal.

Llanrug made sure of their victory with a trio of goals in the final 10 minutes, which were netted by Jonathan Sadler (2) and Gavin Lloyd-Jones.
