BALA TOWN 1

CEFN DRUIDS 2

LATE goals conceded are proving to be a cause for concern for the Lakesiders.

Bala Town have been undone by an injury time winner for the second week in a row.

Missed chances proved costly for Colin Caton's charges on Saturday as a late comeback from Cefn Druids saw Town lose in the final seconds in the final match of phase one.

Bala began with plenty of intensity and they tested their opponents early on with Nathan Burke's 30-yard strike soaring over the woodwork, prior to Henry Jones' curling effort being saved by the goalkeeper.

Bala were playing some fast flowing, tidy football and they could have been 1-0 up midway through the half when an attack down the right was cleared into Louis Robles' path, but his effort was fired straight into Smith and it was deflected out for a goal kick.

A cross by Andy Burns into the area was cleared by Peate, before Smith, Jones and Lassana Mendes combined on the left, but Town were unable to capitalise on the solid spell of possession.

Before the break, Jones saw his bullet header palmed away by the keeper, while Burns was tumbled in the box, but he saw his penalty claims being waved away.

The second half couldn't have started any better for the Lakesiders as they took the lead only three minutes after the restart.

Bala broke down the right with Burns overlapping and he drilled the ball into the box.

Louis Robles' header was pushed back into his path and he turned in the rebound from four yards out.

Town were dominant and they should have been further ahead when a scramble on the line saw Jones and Venables unable to take advantage of the ball bouncing around in the area.

Minutes later, Venables missed a teasing ball from Mendes into the danger zone.

A series of corner kicks saw Mendes having a chance from distance, but it went over the crossbar, before Venables' strike was collected by Jones.

Slightly against the run of play, the visitors hit back.

Jamie Reed got on the end of Arsan's cross and rocketed the ball in from the edge of the six-yard box when Bala failed to clear the danger.

Town introduced Leslie, Shannon and Hayes in an attempt to restore their lead, but the Druids had their tails up with Josh Tibbetts being called into action to deny the Ancients.

With Bala playing high up the pitch and the pressure mounting, there was devastation for a second successive Saturday as Druids bagged a 93rd minute winner.

Jamie Reed got on the end of a long defensive clearance and he slid the ball into the net from 18 yards out.
