THERE was to be no cup joy for Cerrigydrudion over the weekend.

In the second round of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League's Premier Cars Bangor Premier Cup, Cerrig were tasked with a trip to Meliden.

Despite taking an early lead, Cerrig would depart the knockout competition on the back of a 2-1 reverse.

Just eight minutes had elapsed when Cerrigydrudion claimed the lead and Ilan Roberts was the player on target.

Back came Meliden, though, and Luke Alden levelled things up 10 minutes shy of the interval.

Just one further goal arrived in the second period and it went in Meliden's favour when Liam Hughes found the target after 52 minutes.
