BALA 10
LLANGEFNI 11
NARROW home defeats are becoming a feature from the perspective of Bala.
Seven days after they were edged out by league leaders Llandudno, the men from Maes Gwyniad lost by a solitary point in their home WRU League Division One (North) clash with in-form Llangefni.
The Anglesey side were a dangerous proposition, especially considering the fact that they had beaten second-placed Ruthin a week earlier.
There was no real sign of the drama to come when Bala grabbed the lead after only 10 minutes.
A penalty try had them seven points to the good at this stage.
However, a penalty from Greg Horsman cut the gap between the sides.
Soon afterwards, Horsman put through a deft grubber kick for full back Gethin Andrews to gather and score his side's first try of the afternoon.
This made sure that it was 8-7 in Llangefni's favour at the break.
The third quarter of the encounter was a rather scrappy affair.
Bala did reclaim the lead when Luis Prieto kicked a penalty.
But, in injury time, Llangefni were awarded a penalty in front of the posts and Horsman successfully kicked it to give the visitors a victory.
