LLANUWCHLLYN were red hot favourites to make sure they achieved a successful Saturday.

Llan had home advantage versus basement side Castell Alun Colts for their latest Wrexham Area League Premier Division contest.

Going into the match, Castell Alun had lost their previous 17 matches this season and they are still searching for their first point of the season on the back of a 3-1 defeat.

Doing the damage for Llanuwchllyn were Sam Evans, Oli Crimp and Jack Evans.

On target for the visitors was Harry Brown.

It was also a successful weekend for Llangollen Town, who made it through to the semi-finals of the Division One Cup.

In the last-eight of the competition, Town eased to a 5-1 margin of victory in their home encounter versus Halkyn & Flint Mountain.

Dewi Edwards, Jack Goulbourne, Kristian Jones, Sam Giles and Gethin Edwards were all on the scoresheet for the dominant Llangollen outfit, who kept their league and cup double hopes well and truly alive.

In the last-four, Llangollen will tackle Division One leaders Hawarden Rangers.

Turning to the Reserves / Colts Division and there were two reasons for local sides to be cheerful.

Bala Town Reserves eased to a 3-1 triumph during their trip to high-flying Cefn Mawr Rangers Reserves.

Joe Ephraim netted twice for Bala, with Cai Aykroyd also finding the target as the Lakesiders won their fifth game of the campaign.

In further action, Llangollen Town Reserves bagged their second win of the season thanks to a 2-1 outcome during their trip to mid-table Rhydymwyn Reserves.
