A LAST-EIGHT spot in a regional competition has been claimed by talented village footballers.

Henllan U-12s have successfully made it through to the quarter-finals of the North Wales Coast Cup.

In their latest cup tie last weekend, the Henllan team made the trip to take on hosts Llanrug.

In a close and hard fought encounter, it was Henllan who managed to come away with the 3-1 win.

It required a superb goalline clearance by Donny Jackson-Wyatt to deny the hosts an early lead, before Henllan scored two goals from corners.

These were delivered in pinpoint accuracy by Efan Davies.

Llanrug were not quite out of the contest just yet and they pulled a goal back early in the second half.

However, it was to be Henllan's day and Owen Davies sealed the win with his side's third goal.

This arrived after excellent combination play between Deio Jones and Emyr Williams to set him up.

Man of the Match could have been awarded to any of Henllan’s team given the fantastic individual efforts by each member of the squad.

The opposition awarded it to Alex Williams, Henllan’s solid centre back.
