LLANNEFYDD 2
ABERFFRAW 3
ALTHOUGH they scored first and last, there was to be no cup joy for Llannefydd over the weekend.
The villagers entertained Aberffraw on Saturday in the second round of this season's Mawddach Cup.
In the end, it turned out to be a successful day for Aberffraw, who recorded a slender 3-2 success to book a tasty quarter-final trip to Holyhead Hotspur.
In an ideal start, Llannefydd claimed the lead after only seven minutes with Luke Appleby on target.
Back came Aberffraw, though, and Gary Bolton was on hand to level proceedings, before Nathan Moore completed the turnaround to put the visitors into the box seat.
Even better was to follow for Aberffraw, with Matty Reynolds bagging a goal to extend his side's advantage even further.
Luke Appleby's second goal of the afternoon dragged Llannefydd back into the contest, but Aberffraw clung on to their advantage to make sure they reached the next round.
Llannefydd's man of the match was Rhys Llwyd.
