CHIRK U-15s 12

RUTHIN TOWN U-15s 3

EVERYTHING had to go right for Ruthin Town U-15s if they were going to book a spot in a cup final.

Ruthin had the unenviable task of taking on all-conquering Chirk in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Town were slow to acclimatise to the 3G pitch at Clywedog School, in Wrexham, and the last minute loss of their regular goalkeeper Ben Billington didn't help.

Chirk took advantage by claiming an early lead and by the time the half-time whistle was sounded, they were 7-0 ahead.

Ruthin finally got going in the second half and they scored three goals to Chirk's reply of one.

Chirk fought back to eventually seal a 12-3 triumph and keep their double hopes alive.

Two excellent goals came from Ifan Tudor, including a well placed penalty.

Another highlight came courtesy of a superb long-range shot from Charlie Tokarczyk.

Striker Harry Hewitt put his hand up to go in goal for Ruthin and he did a tremendous job, eventually being awarded man of the match for his brave efforts.
