MARCH has continued to see a busy spell of action in the Llandudno and District Table Tennis League.

In the quarter-finals of the Handicap Cup, Trinity A had to restrict Henllan to below an average of 21 points per game.

Ian McGillivray exceeded the Henllan average in his three singles matches, creating a tense final rubber.

John Lovegrove excelled in achieving 32 points against Stuart Dearden, but it was Trinity A who just proceeded through to the semi-finals by five points.

Police B were tasked with keeping Amlwch B below a 36-point average.

The handicaps suggested a tight match and with each team winning five games, this proved to be the case.

The game of the evening witnessed Caren Ault beating Kevin Evans 40-39. However, Peter Roberts was the strongest player in winning his three and ensuring that Police B progressed into the last-four by just seven points.

The Conwy derby required the B team to restrict Conwy A to below an average of 38 points.

They achieved this task in six of the first nine games, with Graham Heath winning each of his singles matches.

However, Paul Hulme beat Andy Lunt 40-29 and this resulted in Conwy A leading by a point going into the deciding game.

Here, Steve Nicholls proved to be too strong for Melvyn Booker ensuring it was Conwy B who triumphed by seven points.

In Division One, Trinity A remain a clear second following a narrow 21-18 victory over fourth-placed Y Morfa A.

Josh Gilmore and Stuart Dearden both won their singles contests, with the former dropping two games on the night and Dearden four.

Dearden was victorious in two five-game thrillers and the pairing teamed up in the doubles, but they went down 3-1 to Andy Horton and Rob Stanway.
