EVERY now and then, it's good to reminisce - particularly when it comes to taking a look back at sporting achievements.

Over the years, Denbigh Harriers runners have accomplished many great things.

The club was formed in September 1991 and was in fact a reforming of one which existed way before in the 1930's.

One of the first races the newly formed club turned out for was the Abergele 5.5. Although the Abergele 5 still exists as a race it was a different course in 1991.

Starting and finishing at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan the course ran uphill to St George and then back down hill to cross the A55 and return to the school.

Fifteen Harriers competed in the race with some success for the club. Alison Baugh finished third Senior lady in a time of 39mins 37secs and David A Jones took the third male vet over 40 in his first race with a time of 32mins 55secs.

First club runner home however was Alison's husband Dave Baugh (who sent in the pic above), finishing in 18th overall out of 200 finishers in 32mins 12secs.

Other results; were Fred Jones 32.39 , Steve Aspey 33.24, Paul Ballinger 35.29 , Duncan Jones 38.55 John W. Jones 39.04 Rhona Roberts 41.06 Ron Birch 41.20 Hazel Aspey 43.36, Gina Jones 43.51, Emlyn Philips 43.56, Marilyn Minshull 50.48, Nest Houghton 54.45.

Four of the original members are still running successfully for the club today; Ron Birch who recently won an M80 category prize in the Rhuthin 5K; Fred Jones who won the 2020 M65 North Wales Cross Country championship; Duncan Jones who has had success on the Fells as an M60 and David Baugh winning the 2020 Buff Winter Half as an M60.
