THE sporting season may be over for the time being, but some of Denbighshire’s finest young swimming stars have been busy filling their free time by answering some questions for The Free Press this week.

Members of all ages from Denbigh Dragons Swimming Club have been telling us about their highlights from their time with the group to date.

Up first was 10-year-old Madi Jones, who specialises in doing the Backstroke. She says he favourite pro swimmer is Freya Anderson.

Madi’s favourite moment with The Dragons so far has been going on swimming camps and she says that in future, she hopes for the coronavirus to stop so that she “can go back and push herself to the limit”.

Next to reveal all about her time with Denbigh Dragons was Nansi Davies, 15 - who specialises in Breaststroke and Individual Medley.

Nansi’s favourite pro swimmer is Adam Peaty and, in future, she hopes to grow ‘bigger and stronger’ with the club.

Third in line to answer some questions was Elenid Parry, who at just seven years old, is one of the younger members of the club.

She says her highlight so far with the club was winning three medals in the Christmas club swimming gala. In future, she hopes to swim for Wales.

Eva Evans, 13, also took time to respond to our questions.

Specialising in Backstroke and Freestyle, Eva says her hopes for the future is to make it to a national competition on behalf of the club.

Next up, representing the boys of the club was Lukas Plunge, 11. He says his favourite moment with the club is just being with his team mates.

In future, he hopes to "come back to training soon" and have a chance to compete on a National level.

Two brothers, Ewan, 11, and Harrison, 8, Leonard also took part in our survey.

Confident Ewan says he is the "best dressed" member of the club and says he hopes to be the Number One ranked swimmer in Wales for 50m/100m breastroke in future.

Brother Harrison says Ewan its the "best trainer" at the club and says his favourite moment so far was meeting his friends; Cai, Iestyn, Adam and Henri.

Unfortunately we couldn’t feature all swimmers who replied but thanks to everyone who took the time.
