BALA TOWN football club have made their second signing of the summer as Alex Ramsay joins from fellow Cymru Premier side Caernarfon Town.

The Lakesiders have followed up the signing of Cardiff Met midfielder Will Evans by capturing the 26-year-old goalkeeper.

With fellow shot-stoppers Josh Tibbetts and Ashley Morris departing Maes Tegid last week, it was pivotal that they found a suitable replacement for the pair.

And in Ramsay, they should have just that, with the player having impressed many associated with Wales' top flight during his four seasons at Caernarfon Town.

Ramsay came through The New Saints' youth system before spells at Caersws, Rhyl and Llanelli. Keeping eight clean sheets for Caernarfon last season, Alex was called up to the Wales C squad and has previously appeared for Wales Under 18's at Semi Pro level.

Speaking about signing Ramsay, Bala Town manager Colin Caton said: "I've been an admirer of Alex for quite a number of years now, his kicking and talking at the back is going to add a lot to us.

"I feel that he needs to kick on now, Bala's going to be a challenge for him and he has to stake the claim for the number one jersey.

"He will be a great addition to us. Socially too, I've spoken to Alex a lot when I've been watching Shrewsbury play.

"What we look for in lads, Alex ticks all the boxes plus his ability as a goalkeeper, he's working hard this summer now to get himself fit. He's been signed on now for a long time for us and we've just been waiting to announce it. I spoke to him last season but he was contracted on a two year deal and as soon as his contract expired, he was in touch. I'm really pleased he's signed."
