PRESTATYN Town have secured their first signing of the summer as they look to retain their JD Cymru North title next season.

The Seasiders’ confirmed the arrival of talented forward Shaun Cavanagh to the Motion Finance Stadium, with the player spending last season with both Caernarfon Town and Porthmadog.

Cavanagh boasts a wealth of experience at various clubs across the regions during his time in senior football, and he is set to fill the void left by prolific striker Jordan Davies, who departed the set-up after playing a leading role in their second-tier championship triumph.

It has been a relatively quiet off-season for Town in terms of player recruitment so far, with manager Neil Gibson focusing his efforts on convincing members of his current squad to stay on and try and get the club back not the JD Cymru Premier at the third time of asking.

Their task will be aided by the presence of Cavanagh, who is a significant threat in the final third when firing on all cylinders.

He netted twice against Prestatyn during his time with Port last season, and also picked up a JD Cymru North Player of the Month Award during the second half of the campaign.

Cavanagh has also turned out for Llandudno and Bangor City during a standout young career to date, gaining plenty of appearances at the top of the Welsh pyramid.

The reigning champions are also finalising their preseason schedule to ensure a smooth transition to the pitch when it is safe to do so, with Gibson’s men set to square off against City of Liverpool, AFC Bridgnorth and JD Cymru South outfit Llantwit Major at dates that are yet to be confirmed.
