DENBIGH Town FC are looking for players to join their under 16's girls side for the 2020/21 season.

Females in school years 10 or 11 are invited to train and play football in a safe, organized, competitive environment with the club.

The club says this is a 'great opportunity to make new friends whilst getting fit' and enjoying playing a sport which is becoming increasingly popular with girls.

The new Denbigh Town Ladies manager Jordie Baker is very keen to have an u16 team up and running.

He said; "I think it is important that we have an u16 yr team every year. There was one at Denbigh last year with Elen Lawson running the side but we don’t have one for this new season as of yet.

"We don’t know when the season will start with this Covid-19 situation and we cannot even train yet but we need to prepare. When we do get going some of last year’s u16 girls will be looking at getting into the senior womens squad and we want to keep that pathway open.”

Jordie has appointed 29 yr old Ben Rogerson as his assistant with the Ladies team. Ben has an enhanced CRB, a coaching qualification and is First Aid trained and he is also looking forward to working with the senior ladies side.

When discussing the new u16 team he added: “We really hope there are girls out there who want to join the club. If you have played football at your school or with friends then that is great but we will welcome girls with all abilities and after a series of training will pick a squad of players. They can live in Denbigh or anywhere in the Vale or surrounding area and may simply want to give it a go. Try it."
