ONE of Ruthin Town's greatest goalscorers will get a shot at playing top-flight football next season as Bala Town have swooped in to sign him up.

Up until now, Llyr Morris has played the entirety of his career in the Welsh football pyramid with his local side.

However, last Friday it was announced that the 24-year-old would be making the switch to Cymru Premier side Bala Town.

The talented forward joined Ruthin at the age of 11 and worked his way towards the first team before becoming their top goalscorer in several seasons

The Lakesiders will have been looking to bolster their ranks in the goalscoring department after Mike Hayes left for Caernarfon Town and Louis Robles made the switch to Cymru Premier rivals TNS.

As a result of his move to Maes Tegid, Morris’ first competitive appearance could come in Bala's upcoming Europa League tie, with the club set to discover who they will be coming up against on Monday.

Morris, who will wear the number 18 shirt at Bala, is manager Colin Caton's fourth signing this summer, following on from Will Evans (Cardiff Met), Alex Ramsay (Caernarfon Town) and Nathan Peate (Cefn Druids) all joining ahead of the 2020/21 Cymru Premier campaign.

Hailing him upon his departure, Ruthin Town's social media page labelled Morris a 'very talented' and 'inspirational' player.

Club Chairman Andy Edwards added: "This is a great chance for Llyr to show what he can achieve at the highest level within Welsh Football. I wish him all the best and on behalf of everyone from the club we wish him every success.

"He is a top player, with a fantastic attitude and has been a big part of our evolving positive culture at Ruthin Town.

"Llyr has devoted his playing career to Ruthin and he is a great example of how our Youth and Senior system integrates, giving everyone the chance to play at the best standard they can.

"Anyone who leaves the Club to better themselves and progress has our 100% support and we will be following this next chapter of his career closely. Well done Llyr."
