THERE’S a new Sheriff in Town for Ruthin Football Club - Mamadie Sheriff.

The dynamic midfielder has signed on at Memorial Park Fields ahead of the club's 2020/21 Cymru North campaign.

Sheriff, who joins from Penycae, has also previously played for the likes of Brickfield Rangers, and Warrington Town.

The 20-year-old has also represented Liverpool-based Robbie Fowler Academy, set up by the Anfield legend himself.

A technical midfielder, Sheriff should provide the new management team of Phil Hudson and Tommy Holmes with a great option in the middle of the park.

Speaking on signing on at Ruthin for 2020/21, Sheriff said: "I'm very excited to start the season with Philly (Hudson) and the lads. We should do well this season."

Ruthin have been dealt a huge blow ahead of next season after long-serving prolific goal-getter Llyr Morris made the switch to Cymru Premier side Bala Town.

The striker has departed to try his hand at both European and top-flight football with Colin Caton's side.

But, it's not all doom and gloom for Ruthin.

Hudson and Holmes have been busy both acquiring new players and getting some fan favourites to re-commit for the season ahead.

Highly-rated centre back Vita Mbolokele has arrived at the club from Brymbo FC, where Hudson and Holmes were previously.

Following them from Brymbo are winger Jamie Cumming and midfielder Mark Beech. Former Flint Town United and Rhydymwyn forward Matty Hill has also signed on at the club.

In terms of re-committing to the club, the majority of players have decided to stay on.

2019/20 Player of the Year Osian Davies has signed a new deal, as have the likes of Tom Dyer, Ryan Goldston, Les Brophy, Matty Evans and more.

The club will once again be competing in the second tier in 2020/21, having finished 12th there last season.
