WITH Bala Town set to kick off their 2020/21 JD Cymru Premier campaign this Saturday, here's a closer look at how their squad has shaped up over summer.

Colin Caton's side kick-off the new season with a tricky away trip to 2019/20 JD Cymru Premier champions Connah's Quay Nomads.

The Lakesiders enjoyed another fine campaign during a curtailed 2019/20 season themselves, finishing up third in the JD Cymru Premier table.

And their impressive 1-0 win away to Valletta in the UEFA Europa League First Qualifying Round gave an insight into the solid defensive displays which could come in the top flight this season.

The experienced Antony Kay, who arrived from Chorley will add to their defensive options. The 37-year-old centre back was impressive on his debut in Malta.

Fellow new signing Alex Ramsay (Caernarfon Town) was even more impressive that night on what was also his debut for the club. The goalkeeper was Man of the Match as he made a string of fine stops and made a penalty save as he kept a well-deserved clean sheet.

A further four signings have arrived at Maes Tegid over the summer; defender Nathan Peate (Cefn Druids), midfielder Will Hughes (Cardiff Met) and attackers Llyr Morris (Ruthin Town) and Raul Correia (Southport).

All of them are quality additions to Colin Caton's side and each should play a key role in Bala's 2020/21 campaign.

Departures from Bala include defender Stuart Jones, who was their longest-serving player and had made 259 appearances, and fan favourite goalkeeper Ashley Morris.

Fellow goalkeeper Josh Tibbetts signed for Caernarfon Town, along with forward Mike Hayes, attacker Louis Robles departed for The New Saints and midfielder Nathan Burke joined FC United.

Players staying at the club for 2020/21 are: Harry Lloyd (Goalkeeper), Defenders: Jonny Spittle, Anthony Stephens, Sean Smith, Shaun Kelly, Andrew Burns. Midfielders: Danny Gosset, Henry Jones, Lassana Mendes, Steven Leslie, Lee Molyneux, Ollie Shannon. Attackers: Chris Venables (Captain), Kieran Smith.
