BALA TOWN will open their 2020/21 JD Cymru Premier season at the home of the reigning champions on Saturday.

Colin Caton's side will travel to the Deeside Stadium to face current top-flight champions Connah's Quay Nomads, in what should be a cracking game to kick-off the new season.

The match will be shown live on Sgorio on S4C from (5.45pm kick off).

Bala Town continued their preparations for the upcoming JD Cymru Premier campaign with a 1-0 win away at Witton Albion.

At a match which allowed spectators into Witton's Wincham Park home ground on Saturday, Bala battled hard to secure a win and another clean sheet.

There were plenty of chances throughout for both sidesm and equally some great goalkeeping on both ends too from Alex Ramsay and his Witton counterpart.

However, the decisive moment of the game came just before half time.

Winger Steven Leslie swung a free-kick into the box and midfielder Will Evans, who arrived from Cardiff Met Uni FC in the summer, rose highest to head the ball home.

After that, the Lakesiders held out for another impressive win away from home.

That victory, coupled with their UEFA Europa League heroics lately, should give Bala plenty of confidence for their JD Cymru Premier season opener on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of his side's clash with Connah's Quay, Bala manager Colin Caton said: "It's the hardest possible start you can ask for, away at the champions.

"Our run in Europe has been fantastic but we can't lose focus on the league either. We have to remind ourselves that that's how we got into Europe in the first place.

"Every game is highly important to us and so we'll be focused from the start".

Following the match against the Nomads on Saturday, Bala Town will then travel to the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Belgium where they will face Standard Liege in the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Europa League on September 17.

This match will again be shown live for supporters to follow through Sgorio's social media pages.
